Week 2 & 3 Shooting Pictures

Last Leg Of Production

We are reaching the end of shooting for the film! And by reaching the end, we mean we have almost 50% of it left to do in the next ten days. If you are a student around Winter Break and are interested in working on the film, let us know, we will need all the help we can get!

The production has been going fabulously so far and we are so excited to get the rest of the shooting in the bag!

But Not For Me

Embedded below is the mixed "But Not For Me" track sung by our very own Sydney Purdy (or as you'll soon know her as - Ruby the lounge singer) and recorded by FM station manager Brandon Swanson. This will be one of the multiple student produced/edited/performed musical numbers used in the film. Pretty good stuff, eh?

Costume Fitting!

Yesterday night was the planned costume fitting and what an event it was! The boss taught Johnny how to tie a tie, Scarlett went through about 100 bobby pins, and Mac tried on Ruby's dress. All in all, it was a success!

Some of the costumes are still up in the air, so we'll still be in contact with some of you cast members about the details. If you have any questions about your costume, let us know!

Callbacks: Scenes

Here are the following scenes for callbacks:

Johnny & Ruby: The Meet & Greet
Johnny, Lola, and Mac: The Turning Point
Johnny, Scarlett, & Prof. Anderson: The Confrontation

Call backs will be held 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Monday, Oct. 19th in MU East 210. The email you received should give you all the other details. We're excited to see you then!

Callbacks: Role Descriptions

Johnny Easy: The Gumshoe
Disillusioned, acerbic, wary. A student worker in Lost and Found, Johnny is a man with a past and just enough conscious to have it trouble him. Embodying a detective from his fedora down to his rough and rumbling quips, he often finds himself a little too good at his job. Will he risk it all to solve the most important case of his career?

Scarlett Black: The Femme Fatale
Seductive, secretive, enthralling. Scarlett, a grad student, uses a sharp mind and smooth skin to get what she wants, when she wants. Glamorous within the muddy world of academia, she stands above her lesser coeds. Is Scarlett tempting enough to lure Johnny into her trap?
Mac: The Bartender
Rough, wise, observant. Usually found behind the catering table, Mac is Johnny's most useful information...and closest friend. Wise beyond his years, little goes on on OSU's campus that Mac doesn't know about. Will Johnny listen to Mac or will their shared past be Johnny's downfall?
Ruby: The Ex
Alluring, conniving, confident. Being Nate's recent ex, Ruby has got prime suspect written all over her. Ruby uses her voice, and those legs, to lure those around her into her confidence as a lounge singer. Is Ruby out for revenge or will Johnny be able to clear this songbird's name?
Prof. Anderson: The Professor
Handsome, charming, intellectual. Underneath the tweed jacket and academic persona is a smooth casanova more likely to be focused on younger coeds then his Shakespearian courses. Being Nate's thesis adviser, he's the one most closely associated with the missing thesis, but perhaps he knows too much. Will Johnny be able to find out what the good professor is hiding?
Lola: The Receptionist
Brassy, flirtatious, competent. Being Johnny's second in command has its perks, and Lola takes full advantage by harboring her crush for the private eye amid her office work. Will Johnny's trust in this secretarial bombshell help or hinder his case?

Audition Updates

The first round of auditions are over. We're so thankful for the amount of talent that came to audition for the film! You should of received word either by phone or email about callbacks or roles assigned.

Callbacks will be held on Monday, Oct. 19th and a final cast list will be available by Wednesday, Oct. 21st.

We are asking everyone to audition with an excerpted scene from the script and to audition for either of the two main characters, Johnny or Scarlett. If we like what we see and think you'd be appropriate for another role, we'll ask you back and give you the other character's material.

You can view/download/print the scene here:
Scene 1: Johnny Easy and the Student Affair

You do not need to memorize the scene, in fact it's better if you don't, but come prepared to read from the text in character. Auditions will take no longer than 20-30 minutes, giving us time to go over your character and availability, etc.

For your use, descriptions of the two main characters are below. Remember that even if you would like to or only have time for a minor part, we still ask that you use the Johnny/Scarlett material found in the scene above.

Contact Margaret Anderson if you have any questions and we hope to see you at the auditions!
